B-Real and Psycho Les have collaborated to drop their new the 14-track album Real Psycho. B-Real, who has defined Cypress Hill‘s sound since their 1991 debut, meshes with Psycho Les’s production style, forged in Queens’ raw hip-hop crucible as one-third of The Beatnuts since the early ’90s.Their paths, though parallel in timeline, emerged from distinct scenes. While B-Real was blending Latino culture with West Coast rap alongside DJ Muggs and Sen Dog, creating classics like “Insane in the Brain” and “How I Could Just Kill a Man,” Psycho Les was crafting The Beatnuts’ signature sound with street-smart compositions like “Watch Out Now” and “Off the Books.”
The album Real Psycho draws from both artists’ deep networks, featuring Bay Area legend Too Short, Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter, Demrick, and Son Doobie. Lead singles “You Might Know Us” and “Lyrical Hammers” – the latter enhanced by Carpenter’s distinctive guitar work – were dropped ahead of the album’s release and offfered a glimpse into this bicoastal fusion.
